Notes

Full natural language - pipe dream?

  • Nice, but black hole - will never be completed to perfection
  • There are plenty of other things to solve to make it more usable to normal people
  • Makes localization even more difficult
  • Localization more important than natural language parser

Solving localization problem

  • Giving command authors the right tools
    • eg, few know about synomyms
  • Prepositions - fixed list/standard list? would help with managing user expectations, and localization
  • Verbs suppying noun types only, not prepositions? have prepositions generated automatically, with different sentance structures
    • But, need to have much more specific noun types (possibly with traits)
  • Need a language with an active community
    • Will help figure out what problems need solved
    • Japanese? (Jono/Mitcho) current parser is out of date
    • Portuguese? (Fern)

To Do

  • Advertise the meeting better next time
    • Bring in Ray Bango for developing active non-English community
  • Mitcho to blog about overload verbs, modifiers, etc
  • Jono to put overload verbs on top of his to-do list
