From MozillaWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Title of Session (should also be the title of your Wiki page): Building communities with few people.

Facilitator(s): Novica Nakov, Brian King (or someone else from the Balkans communities)

Are you paid or volunteer staff?: Volunteer

Area of Contribution (Team Name): Macedonian localization

How are you currently involved with the community?: L10n and advocacy

Location of Work (where do you reside?): Skopje, Macedonia

Talk Length (please choose between 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes): 60

Summary: Talk around 20 minutes about: community building and importance of regular meetings in physical spaces, cooperation with other non-mozilla communities/groups, and regional cooperation among communities where the number contributors per country is small. The rest of the time will be for discussion, and sharing personal stories about reasons for contributing to Mozilla. Update: I can see there are several proposals for talks around building communities. Maybe everything can be merged in some kind of panel.

How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MozCampEU2012/Tracks): This session could be used to bring people coming from small communities together to share experiences and knowledge from their work contributing to Mozilla.

Expected Outcome or Deliverable: Learning from each other could provide clues for solving similar problems and common ideas for bringing more people to the small communities.

Desired Audience Type or Skill-set: Open to everyone, but probably more interesting for small communities.

Equipment Needs (Video projector already included): Chairs to sit in a circle.
