  • QA test RC2 Build 2

Friday, March 18

  • Rebuild for RC2 build 3
  • Continue to QA test RC2 build 2 (testing can be carried over)
  • 11:30 am PDT - Triage to make sure there are no late-breaking issues
  • spot-check RC2 build 3
  • Watch crash-stats and input.mozilla.com
  • QA Sign-off
  • push RC2 build 3 to mirrors
  • push RC2 build 3 to beta channel users
  • Notify IT of intent to seed mirrors

Saturday, March 19

  • Watch crash-stats and input.mozilla.com

Sunday, March 20

  • wait for release-drivers "go for seeding launch" from beltzner
  • Evening PDT - Push final release directory to mirrors
  • +2 hours - Updates on releasetest for QA to test

Monday, March 21

  • 11:30 am PDT - Triage to make sure there are no late-breaking issues
  • 12:00PM PDT - Final call on "Go launch" (Beltzner)
  • 4:00 pm PDT - Push microsite pages live and test
  • All day Watch crash-stats and input.mozilla.com

Tuesday, March 22

War Room Mountain View

  • MoCo employees working on the launch will be in 10Forward* - Everyone Welcome! Let us know if you will be in the MTV office for the early-morning launch activities so we can plan accordingly
  • People will start showing up at 5:30 am PDT
  • IRC backchannel will be #firefox4 on irc.mozilla.org
  • The war room will be streamed live on Air Mozilla. Suggest speakers here.
  • There will be food, activities and a whole lot of awesomeness starting at 6:00AM:
    • 6:00am Breakfast in Ten Forward
    • 6:00am Air Mozilla broadcast starts
    • 12:00pm Firefox 4 Launch Lunch in R2D2/CP3O
    • 4:00pm Launch Cantina, don't forget to invite your Friends and Family
    • Throughout the day we'll have celebrations for download milestones and coverage. Examples: Banner unveiling on Castro Street, cake cutting, champagne, and more surprises...
  • *Note: Each office will be organizing their own War Room and activities and we will all be linked together on video

  • 6:00 am PDT - Push mozilla.com pages and update product details to point the download links ~20 min
  • Flush the web caches ~10 min
  • Check the live pages ~20 min
  • Push manual / "Check For Updates" update on release channel for 3.6 users ~10 min
  • Push manual / "Check For Updates" update on release channel for 3.5 users ~10 min
  • Official Launch - Make announcement
  • Push campaigns, promos, wall posts, newsletter, blogs, tweets, community note, etc.
  • QA validate manual updates ~2 hours
