Firefox 4 Test Plan

Firefox 4 Beta 5 Testplan

Description of Release

This is the latest beta version of Firefox 4. Some of the more notable changes include revisions in:

  • D2D (on by default, Windows 7 and Vista only)
  • Add-ons Manager
  • Theme
  • Panorama
  • OOPP
  • ...

Specific Plan Beta 5

We will run smoketests and BFTs using Mozmill, as well as manual smoketests. We'll also manually run areas of the BFT that focus on several areas listed in this page, while focusing on the changes for this release.

Schedule

We will run through Litmus smoketests, BFTs, and updates checks. We'll focus on features landed for Beta 5.

  • Code Freeze: Aug 30
  • Builds Start: Aug 31
  • QA: Aug 31 - Sept 7 (estimate)
    • Smoketests and BFTs using Mozmill: (1 person)
    • Manual smoketests, BFT areas, and Other OS Spot Checks: Aug 31 - Sept 3 (3 people)
    • Testday: Sept 3 - if held (3 people monitoring)
    • Accessibility: Sept 2 (1 person)
    • Top Sites Functionality and Page Load Testing: Before Sept 3 (1 people)
    • Updates checks: Before Sept 3 (1 person)
      • Manual spot checks as necessary
