I would like to participate in development on the Xray text editor project that uses rust, but I'm generally trying to get involved in rust right now. I tried for ages to connect to irc.mozilla.org/#rust from my laptop, but it kept failing.

I mainly want to be able to improve the IRC Mozilla Wiki to describe the need to connect with SSL more prominently.
