As part of supporting the launch of Firefox OS and an ongoing desire to improve the usability of MDN, we'll be embarking on a site redesign in 2013.
High-Level Redesign Goals
- Improve performance
- Better site structure, navigation & ability to quickly find key content
- Clearer separation of product and Open Web Content
- Update the design to something dynamic, modern, & more consistent with the brand
- Improve user experience & usability
- Support Firefox OS and Apps
- Improve SEO
- More flexibility in how content is presented (especially the home page & landing pages)
Redesign Phases & Schedule
- Interim home page - launched February (removed black "hero" area, added graphics & links for Firefox OS & Apps)
- Phase 1 - redesign global nav & homepage, restructure some key content areas - May 13, 2013
- Full Site Redesign/Rebranding - further refine global nav & homepage, new site design, restructure information architecture, new landing pages, new features - planned for roll out in September 2013

- Brainstorming on features
How to Participate
- Bi-Weekly MDN redesign meetings, starting in May, to review what we've been working on together and get ideas/feedback from the community.
