Provisional Council

During the initial phase Mozilla Reps program (April 2011-Sep 2012), a provisional council was set up by the Mozilla Reps project leads (William and Pierros), comprised of 7 Mozilla volunteers (who have volunteered to join the council and were designated by the project leads) and 2 Mozilla paid staff (William and Pierros themselves).

Each Mozilla Rep on the provisional council was designated based on the following criteria:

  • initial interest expressed in ReMo and participation in early planning discussions
  • extensive experience contributing to the Mozilla project and deep knowledge of the project
  • geographic location

Second Council

In early September 2012, as decided during the Mozilla Reps Camp 2012 the second Mozilla Reps Council was selected through random selection. Candidates were all mentors who corresponded to the criteria defined during the Camp. The first 3 candidates chosen were automatically given a 1 year term, and the remaining 4 candidates were given a 6 month term.

Third Council - (March 2013)

In early March 2013, the third Council was selected. This time, the selection of the council was to be decided through popular vote. Only mentors will be able to run for Council. Only 4 nominees were found so no elections happened. The 4 new council members are to be serving for 12 months.

Fourth Council - (October 2013)

In early October 2013, the fourth Council was selected through popular vote. Only mentors were able to run for Council and Mozilla Reps were be asked to cast their vote to elect each member. There were be 3+1 (Deb resigned) candidates elected for a 1 year term.

In April 2014, the Fifth Council was selected through popular vote. Only mentors were able to run for Council and Mozilla Reps were be asked to cast their vote to elect each member. There were be 3 candidates elected for a 1 year term.

Seventh Council - (May 2015)

Eighth Council - (January 2016)

In January 2016, the Eighth Council was selected through nomination (no voting was required since there were only 4 nominees). Only mentors were able to run for Council. There were be 4 candidates elected for a 1 year term.

In August 2016, Rosana Ardila stepped out of her role as appointed Council member and Program Manager. Brian King was appointed as Council Member.

Ninth Council - (September 2016)

In September 2016, the Ninth Council was selected through popular vote. Mentors were allowed to run for 3 open spots and additionally Participation Cohort leaders were eligible to run for the 4th spot for Council. Mozilla Reps were asked to cast their vote to elect each member. There were 4 candidates elected for a 1 year term.

Ioana Chiorean replaced Umesh Agarwal in December 2016 after he took the decision to step down (on his own will for personal aspects). Kontantina Papadea replaced Brian King in February 2017 as appointed Council member.
