Eudora 8.0 Beta 7 Bugs

Eudora 8.0 Beta 7 Bugs

When I send mail from a personality other than the default one, the sending server is still the default SMTP server. I would like to have the ability to send mail from the outbound server associated with each specific personality as I was able to do in Eudora 7.1. If that capability is there, I don't see it anywhere in options or accounts.

It turns out that there IS a way to do this. In Account Settings, select the name of the personality for which you wish to change the outgoing server. At the bottom of that page, select the appropriate server from the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" drop down list.

That drop down list is generated by adding the necessary SMTP servers to the list in the Outgoing Server (SMTP) section of the personality list (at the very bottom).

Requested features for Eudora 8.0

Modyfiable subjects : the Eudora feature that was the most useful to me was that I could change the subject of any email message (incoming or outgoing). I constaly needed that feature to add information to received messages from clients. This is a terrible loss and I would like to know if this feature could be programmed into Eudora 8.

In Eudora 7, it is possible to select a group of messages in a mailbox and then use File | Save As. The saved file contains all selected messages, concatenated. The user can choose to include or exclude headers. In Eudora 8.0 beta 8, it appears to be possible to save only single selected messages. I request this multiple-message-file-save functionality in Eudora 8.

I've been using Eudora for 6 years, currently on 6.2, and finally decided to leap to the new 8 even though it is still not importing the files correctly. Two features that were in 6.2 that I used constantly were creating a "New" folder or selecting an "Other" from the pulldown menues of "Mailbox" or "Transfer." This is a big time saver!

My second request is a "Send Later." When I'm working at 3am in the morning, I don't want my clients knowing I'm working at 3am. I want the email to go to them at 7:45am. Thanks!

Some other things that are missing.

Mark a message read as soon as it is opened in the Inbox, or any other folder à la Thunderbird. It is currently necessary to double click a message, open it in folder or other window before it is marked read.

Make the dot in the "sort by junk status" click-able to automatically mark a message as junk and move it out of the current folder. Change the column heading to "Mark as junk" rather than the meaningless sort by junk.

Open the right panel to the contents of whichever folder is clicked on. If I want a new tab I can double click the folder, but normally I only want to see the folder I'm opening. I don't want to have to look for a new tab to see what is in the folder I just clicked on.

I've been using Eudora for the past 20 years or so. Maybe longer. One of the things I liked about it was the fact that I could do a LOT of selection of individual options for how it reacted with the mail servers. I still like that, but I've looked ALL OVER for the option to let me start my replies AT THE TOP of quoted text, rather than at the bottom. Is this missing, or can I just not find it? If it's not there, WHY isn't it there? When I send a reply, it doesn't seem to make sense to have the recipient have to search for my reply at the bottom of what he/she sent me. Is this a bug or oversight, or am I just picky?

Amen to that. I never could figure out the reason for adding to the bottom of a message. Just doesn't make sense.

How do set the Leave Mail on Server in Eudora EOS?
