• Samsung & Google Cross-license patent portfolio for 10 years - Generally seen as opening the door to better relations between the two organizations, it may lead to a more Nexus-like experience on Samsung phones, which is good for Google, but may not be good for anyone who competes with Google and has been showcased on Samsung devices.

• Motorola sold by Google to Lenovo for $2.91B - Google sold its handset maker to Lenovo for a mix of stocks and cash, while retaining the majority of Motorola's patent library (Lenovo receives a full license to it). Lots of mixed opinions on whether it was a good deal or not, but Lenovo now has access to a market it hasn't really had success in (the US), and Google gets a considerable patent library for around $4B after all is said and done.

• Google Now extends footprint to desktop

• Google Releases Casting SDK - Google has released its Cast SDK to developers, allowing for better Chromecast support in apps and websites in Android, iOS, and Chrome. This is the continuation of what's expected to be a push for adoption in 2014 following the release of more content providers in late 2013 and last week's announcement of financial results that painted a rosy picture for Chromecast and Play.

• Windows Phone otentially popular in Indonesia, Brazil, and Kenya as a smartphone OS. "Windows Phone has seen particularly strong growth in India; in Q2 of last year it was the second most popular operating system among smartphones sold in India for the third straight quarter and saw a 156% growth in YOY sales in Q3."

• HP is Shipping an Android-based Tablet PC Aimed at Small Businesses

• UCWeb Browser launched three versions for Android

• Firefox in top 10 Most trusted brands in Germany! ...but Google is two spots ahead?!
