What is Lightning 0.1?
Lightning 0.1 is an embedding of the Mozilla calendar code specifically designed to run inside Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5. This release is a preliminary, non-production release designed to showcase the work that's been done and allow contributors to help us test it out.
What can Lightning 0.1 do?
- Help you keep track of your personal schedule
- Subscribe to calendars on the Internet (via HTTP/WebDAV)
What important things should I know before trying Lightning 0.1?
- Modifying ICS calendars or entries created by programs other than Lightning may result in data-loss.
- Editing calendars from more than one computer at a time may result in data-loss.
- There is no mechanism for undoing calendar operations.
- Item recurrence and alarms have not been heavily tested.
- This is a preliminary release, and despite our best efforts, may have other bugs that can eat your data. Always make regular backups!
What doesn't Lightning 0.1 do yet?
There are a number of parts of Lightning that are not yet complete or still have issues. Important such features include:
- No real integration between email and calendar functionality exists yet.
- Printing support is minimal.
- CalDAV support is extremely basic and is difficult to set up.
- Offline support only works for local calendars.
- Syncing with other calendar software (such as handheld PIM devices) is not supported.
