There are currently some things which are unsatisfactory about the way licensing information and credit information are presented in Firefox. This page draws together all the issues, and attempts to present a unified solution.
Problems:
- There is duplicated but non-identical information on "about:" and in the Help | About box (Firefox only) (Bug 328563)
 - There are two sets of credits - about:credits and those in Help | About | Credits. This is divisive. (Bug 277119)
 - There are l10n issues with the text in the credits.xhtml file.
 - The Thunderbird link to about:credits doesn't even work (chrome:// URL opening error).
 - You can't access about:license in Thunderbird; it doesn't even ship (Bug 339117)

Proposed solution:
- Unify about: and Help | About, so that going to the URL about: brings up the Help | About dialog. (Firefox only)
 - Make the text on Help | About read as follows (pseudo-markup):

©1998-2006 <a href="about:credits">Contributors</a> and others. All Rights Reserved. <a href="about:license">Licensing Information</a>. [User Agent String]
- Move the trademark non-licence to about:license
 - Move the Charlton Company credit to about:license (Firefox only)
 - Move the US Government End Users statement to about:license
 - Remove the Credits button and associated extra credits page
 - Make about:credits (remote) and about:license (local) come up in an otherwise chromeless window (Thunderbird only)
