Development Updates

FF/TB 1.5.0.5

  • QA has completed smoketests, BFTs, and l10n testing with rc3 for FF and TB (found a couple of issues with l10n builds and new security exploit reported over the weekend)
    • We need to hold the release for a bug that is in the queue for the Browser Fun blog (will require respin for rc5):
    • 2 l10n issues to resolve (will require repackaging for rc5):
      • Bug 344633 - bookmarks menu in fy-NL version not displaying item correctly (OPEN - rhelmer looking into it)
      • Bug 344710 - Thunderbird GA-IE Crashes when entering IMAP password [@ nsCRT::strlen] (FIXED - checked in 7/16)
  • Remaining Tasks
    • Fix and check-in remaining bugs and respin for rc5
    • Smoketest rc5 and verify new fixes
    • Repackage l10n and retest fy-NL and ga-IE
    • Get update patches generated and tested
    • Contact affiliates and partners when we have a final RC (hoping rc5 will be it).
  • Release date might need to be pushed out depending on how quickly we get a fix for bug 344759.
    • Currently slated 7/25 for FF and 7/27 for TB

FF 2.0

  • Beta1 Shipped last Weds in 29 locales - way to go!
  • Beta2 planned for Early August. Daily triage happening.

TB 2.0

Alpha hopefully this week. Blocked by:

  • Need to turn on the new installer
  • Need to recover from the tinderbox / build re-org over the weekend

Gecko 1.9

Other

Build

  • Most Tinderboxen are back after the colo move; we're still working through some issues. Please email build@mozilla.org if you find builds missing, etc.
  • Trunk Tbird builds will be unavailable for awhile, due to failed hardware; we'll work on bringing them back ASAP.
  • We have some Mac hardware that's ready to be reimaged, so the UB build situation should start to improve.

IT Updates

  • Colo move - done
  • VPN/Jumphost

Product Management and Marketing Updates

Developer Relations

  • started brainstorming Q3 project work, going to refine slightly and then start circulating to appropriate communities; should be a very exciting quarter!
  • sancus getting Nutch up and language-happy, as replacement search system
  • JS1.7/Fx2 documentation work continues, largely limited now by things being frozen enough to doc
  • MDC server moved to new colo largely without incident; big thanks to the IT team!

Add-ons and AMO

  • investigation underway of template-localization strategies for AMO-public (clouserw)
  • designing schema revisions for multi-lingual database content and other helpfulnesses (morgamic)
  • updated policy document draft to be split into reviewer-guide and author-guide, posted on AMO proper, blogged about, cheered, reviled, etc. -- hopefully all this week
  • starting to solicit design help for a more polished/consumer-friendly sister site to AMO, basically a dramatic expansion of the recommended list

Foundation Updates

See the report on Mozilla Foundation activities for the week ending July 14, 2006.
