Firefox OS App Days - IIT Madras

A 24 hr Hackathon on developing applications for Mozilla's Firefox OS. This event will familiarise students with all the aspects of Firefox OS, Web Apps, Web APIs. This can be taken as a great opportunity for students to create quality apps and submit them to the Marketplace.

About the event:

  • 24-hour Hackathon focusing on development of apps for devices running Firefox OS

Details

  • Date: 18th and 19th April
  • Venue: IIT, Chennai
  • Target participants: 60-70


General Agenda:

  • [ 10 am - 12:30 pm ] - Introductory Session on Mozilla, Firefox OS, related APIs for building the application and ideation for the apps.
  • -- Break for Lunch --
  • [ 2 pm (18th) to 2 pm (19th) ] - 24 Hr Hackathon
  • [ 2 pm -3 pm ] App Submission to Marketplace


Instructions for Participants :

  1. Kindly bring your College ID cards when you come to the event venue.
  2. Bring your own Laptops.
  3. Team members of 2-3.
  4. Wifi will be provided during the entire course of the hackathon.
  5. Please download the Firefox Developer Edition Browser from this link - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/
  6. Install Firefox OS 2.0 ( and Firefox OS 1.3) Simulator (under 'Select Runtime') from the Web IDE. You can open the Web IDE using Shift + F8 or follow the instructions in the link here - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/WebIDE
