Brainstorming for QA video work

This wiki will be a landing pad for all ideas related to videos the QA team wants to do. This will include:

  • QA Promotional Video
  • Individual Team Videos (describe the QA process more in depth)
  • Screencasts to show how to use various QA tools (Litmus, Bugzilla, etc)

QA Promotional Video

  • pass ball, introduce each person/team, talk about what you work on
 or how you got involved
  • target audience: community

  • Tracking bug: Bug 58366

  • Purpose of video
    • Informing people about QA and what they can do
    • Knowing we want to sell them on QA
    • Reiterate why it is important to volunteer
    • Educational aspect -> learn how to do QA
  • Ideas from meeting with Rainer on 4/22/10
    • Rainer thinks we should not feature every QA team member in the promo video but rather select about 6 people to feature. If we have everyone in the team introduced the video will be too long
    • Rainer thinks we should have everyone introduce themselves and explain how they got involved in Mozilla.
    • His idea for a storyboard line is to use the soccer idea but then when the ball is kicked it goes to a spinning globe which shows where the person is in the world. When that person is done talking then the ball will be get kicked to the next person.
    • Rainer thinks we should 6 different locations to have people.
    • He thinks we should shoot a short mock up early next week to get a look and feel for his idea. Need another QA person to volunteer to help.

Look and feel of QA Promotional Video

  • We should have a consistent backdrop behind each person so that there is uniformity. Suggest using Mt. View studio on Floor 2 with a backdrop.

Team Videos

  • Provide a perspective of how the web works
    • Need a lead for each area
    • Need to create a script
  • First Steps
    • File a tracking bug in Bugzilla
    • Talk about Topic Ideas in your team meetings and update the bug accordingly.
  • 1. Desktop Firefox
  • 2. Mobile Firefox
  • 3. Web QA - Stephen
  • 4. Automation/Mozmill
  • 5. Mozilla Labs
  • 6. QA Services

Timelines

  • QA Promotional Video Timeline: Must be completed and edited in time for the QMO 2 launch in June.
  • Team Video Timeline: Matt would like the team videos to launch shortly after the QMO2 launch (sometime after the Summit). The team videos should feature a topic which would be something you would want to emphasize. We are leaving it up to the teams to figure out the topic for the first team video

Screencasts

  • bugzilla - what makes a good bug report
?
  • litmus

  • irc, mibbit, chatzilla

* web testing tools

Ties to QMO

  • Structure of QMO is based on a certain extent like the org - videos link to that section

Timeline

*Promotional Video will need to be done in time for QMO2 launch estimated at June 1, 2010.

  • Individual Team video work can start now. Ideas should be discussed at the individual team meetings
  • Promo video work will come last but we can film individuals that are ready to say their piece ASAP. I have enough storyboard info that Rainer and I can put the threads together to make a slick promo piece.

Target Video Length

  • 3-5 minutes

Other notes

  • How do we handle remote people?
    • Rainer advises he would rather use the same camera to do the filming. He has some ideas how we can handle the remote folks. He will also have camera equipment with him at the Mozilla Summit in Whistler.

* Do they make their own video segment?

  • What video format required for editing?
