Follow the following simple steps to install an integrated calendar into Thunderbird. This walk-through is intended for English speakers using Windows or Linux.
=Requirements=
Lightning runs as an extension for Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.x

* Visit the [http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar Calender Project Home].
=Download=
* In the "Lightning" section on the page, click on the link that says the OS (Operating System) you are using (e.g Windows, Linux x86).
You can download either the Latest Stable Release or the Latest Nightly Build. The latest nightly build has more features than the latest stable release but might have severe bugs that can cause data loss or crash your application.
* You will reach the Lightning download page.

* Right click on the green "Install Now" on the page.
Don't use the nightly builds with production data as data loss and other scary things can occur. If you do not want to risk any data loss use the latest stable release.
* Select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" and select a temporary place to put the file.

* Launch Thunderbird.
