Technical details regarding enterprise features

During the Toronto meeting we agreed that enterprise features that currently are not important for our target users can be introduced into the regular builds but have to be switched off by a preference settings. This allows contributors to implement advanced features now like server specific free/busy support without the need of providing their own version or even forking. The basic idea is to introduce a new directory where the additional files can be hosted.

Mickey will put up a page where he proposes all the details (like folder name, pref name, etc.) so that mvl and dmose can give their ok.

Regarding the review process for those files, dmose generally agreed that the typical review cycle makes no sense as the changes do not show up in regular installations. But he would like to discuss this with mvl.

Joey had the impression that it might be a bad idea if different people will be working on e.g., different event dialogs. dmose cited beltzner who said that implementing multiple UI designs might be a good idea and is part of finding an optimal solution. so he sees the introduction of new UI without officially being enabled as an experiment that has a benefit for the whole project.

Issue status

The issues listed above all need UI review which will be done by mvl and dmose during the next days.

Roundtable

A discussion regarding daniel's wcap contribution came up as a review is also still missing. In fact it is unclear how the review should look like as the provider is just an implementation of an existing interface and the functionality can only be tested with a corresponding server. We agreed that besides coding style the most important question is which features can be generalized to get rid of a wcap-specific interface. Things like free/busy or calendar subscriptions are required by other providers/backends as well so the review will concentrate on checking which of the proposed new APIs are useful for other providers and moving them accordingly.

Matt landed the generic branding patches for Sunbird yesterday and encourages everybody to have a closer look regarding the icon and product naming changes. It should read Calendar instead of Sunbird now and the icon is orange instead of green.

Clint wants to remind everybody of the QA Chat tomorrow (July 20th), UTC 16:00 (#calendar-qa)
