Jason's Update

  • Introducing Sam! Summer intern in London working with Sole on Servo demos.
  • Last day to enter Q2 goals: tomorrow.

  • No meeting next week: US Independence Day. But please fill out the etherpad regardless.
  • Jason: OOO 4 hours today and Friday, SMS or email if you need to reach him.
  • Platform group wants to see much more video content from our group.
  • Keyframe animation landing in Servo shortly. Very, very cool. Landing bits of Servo in Gecko is a huge goal this year.

    • Good news! We've already had those ideas, they're in the plan, and this is a real project!
    • Belén and Potch are already putting in effort to make this happen. Join us!
    • Lots of Basecamp invites went out, not everyone logged in. Please do. That's where all the planning is happening.
  • [potch] DevEdition seems broken in Workday. And Release. And Chrome.
  • [havi] Tech Speakers Phase 2 applications are now open! You may be asked for recommendation letters. If so, please return them as quickly as possible.

Last week:

  • St. John's holiday 🔥💥🔥 // Brexit + Spanish Elections => crying in the floor in fetal position
  • Tinkering with different font pre-loading techniques / libs /etc. Just finished today a nice repo with some demos integrated with Phaser https://mozdevs.github.io/webfont-preloading/

This coming week:

  • Drafting a post for hacks
  • Attending Gamelab in BCN Wed-Fri, which is the most important game dev conference / event in Spain. There will be talks, round tables, workshops as well as an exhibition.


Dan

Last week:

  • Recovered from London.
    • Also, applied for my first EU UK passport to ease future travel.
    • Finished travel / lodging planning for OpenWest and JSConf Iceland, began updating talks.
  • Lots of work with WebExtensions:
    • Fielded several questions about porting from Chrome
    • Examined a few open source Chrome extensions, uncovered a few bugs
    • Began mapping out semantic clusters of popular extensions
  • Upgraded my Linux laptop to Fedora 24, which broke it for a day, blocking work on the dashboard. Fixed now.
  • Deployed TLS certs from Let's Encrypt to several servers, got an A+ on Qualys's SSL Labs test. Yay!
  • Wrote a few hundred lines of Go and Rust in side projects, now mostly comfortable navigating Rust, cross compiling, etc.

This coming week:

  • Q2 summary, Q3 goals
  • Write up notes from London, follow up on agreed action items
  • Make sure everyone's successfully using rogerroger
  • Audit more Chrome add-ons to figure out which would be no-op ports to WebExtensions
  • Test new webcam covers for swag potential. (Done: camJAMR, Next: Soomz, Webcamera Cover, CamPatch)

Last week:

  • Open IoT Design Sprint in Anstruther, writing up a post today

This coming week:

  • Catching up after 3 weeks traveling - goals, travel planning
  • lots of planning/coord for speakers at code schools
  • set up SensorWeb sensor

Last week:

  • Recovering from LDN
  • Been teaching the whole week again
  • Tweets are crazy hard with no content coming in, everyone on PTO (living off of canned material and some MozLondon spills)
  • Organizing my hackerretreat, London trip for July (for NodeJS Live London)
  • Organizing JSConf Iceland travel and putting together my Ruhr.js talk
  • Submitting for fall confs (Open HW summit, NodeJS EU)

This coming week:

  • Loads of teaching, wrapping up work
  • Prepping for my ruhr.js talk, submitting few more proposals
  • Arranging RustFest/ViewSource details and PWA workshop for London
  • Helping Havi w/ TS v2 & application review
  • Hacker-retreat next week finally!!

  • Got a chance to try the virtual-dom package
    • Cool way to use a virtual DOM without having to pull in all of React and its build tools
  • Spoke at the inaugural DinosaurJS on building web stuff for the TV
    • Was well-received!

  • More CSS Grid tool work
  • Research "CSS: The Perfectly Cromulent Parts"
