  • [callahad] Is rogerroger working? Only Sam, Sole, and I have posted updates for the past three weeks.
    • Building habits is hard, let's keep trying and revisit later.
  • [belen]: Where can I get a regular t-shirt with mozilla logo on it? Not a "fancy" one like the Alan Turing design or the friends & family. Some t-shirt that is easily recognizable as Mozilla's.

    • [callahad]: Is there a system for this, longer term? Potch's ambient knowledge of things in MV closets isn't necessarily scalable ;)
  • [belen] I'm shipping a parcel to Salva and was wondering how should I do it. Must we use a specific courier company? Should I just use the normal post office that is right around the corner? I can't find the right page on Mana with this info.

Last week:

  • A short week for me, just a few days of work…
  • Tinkered with the website (mostly figuring out how to install and configure a Drupal module)
  • Answered questions for an interview by Justin Crawford about web compatibility. He's writing a post series on Hacks about the topic, with answers from a bunch of people.
  • Submitted a proposal for Render 2017
  • Filed a bug which drives me nuts on Firefox for Mac https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1295924

This coming week:

  • Input HTML post into Wordpress so Havi can publish it.
  • Write a post on my blog with tips for game jams (Ludum Dare is happening this weekend! And yes, I'm joining!)

Last week:

  • Failed to get around to Bug 1267347 or Drupal site work
  • Prepped for JSConf Iceland, trying to pivot harder into "ServiceWorkers are more than just offline," but it's only a 30 minute slot...
  • Got into a small debate about AMP with its creator: https://twitter.com/callahad/status/765543580177801216
  • Sent out proposed v2 triage
  • Reviewed Platform's 2016H2 goals
  • Participated a bit in #compatchat
  • Reviewed Hacks post drafts and debugger.html explainer
  • Continued discussions with a MOSS grant applicant
  • Navigated the new Greenhouse process to submit a job referral. It's not as horrible as Jobvite!
  • Researched storing large amounts of data client-side.
    • Brotli compression isn't well known, and shows real value for experiences that rely on huge assets
    • Quotas are super interesting!
      • Basically, Chrome and Firefox will let sites use a total of 50% of the available harddrive space, but any single site can only use 20% of that 50%.
      • Chrome has a quota API, so you can see where you're at, Firefox doesn't.
      • If the browser needs to free space, it starts dropping entire origins' worth of data. You won't lose half a cache or half an IndexedDB; it should be all or nothing.
  • Introduced a few recent bootcamp graduates I met at MidwestJS to Mozilla's mentored bugs
  • Responded to a few questions on WebExtensions: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2016/08/12/webextensions-taking-root/#comments
  • DevRel Website meeting, more research in Hacks data migration, etc.
  • Also: Bought a YubiKey, re-learned GPG, now all my commits on GitHub have a fun "verified" badge.

  • Attempting to clear Drupal site backlog and Bug 1267347 today.
  • JSConf Iceland! I leave tomorrow (Tuesday). Falki, Andrzej, and Lin Clark all also be there! 🎉🎉

Last week:

  • Techspeakers planning for Berlin continues
  • More mozfest session vetting and team coordination
  • Helped CD propose a mozfest session
  • Closed out years-old bugs in the events queue belonging to rchau
  • Worked on adding basic geolocated AR support to A-Frame AR demo
  • Did some tests using old FxOS devices for Bluetooth beacon use
  • Made a pure-CSS panda - http://codepen.io/dietrich/pen/KrYYdL
  • Tried to get some low-cost PM2.5 sensors working, not there yet :/
  • Attended the JS+IoT meetup and did a lightning talk about using smartphones for human-centered IoT.

  • More planning and communication about Genevieve Bell talk on Sept 1

  • Tech Speakers Phase 2: 3rd and final masterclass of summer pilot took place on Monday, CFP workshop w/Technically Speaking. Really well received by the speakers.
    • This week: last Lab sessions. Final homework assigned.
    • Conversations about graduation/requirements and next steps to 'qualify' - including submitting a CFP and bio
  • Tech Speakers Berlin meetup: finalizing the calendar, communications, plans. Met w/Denise Graveline, our guest coach
  • Hacks:
    • Published Sole's What's new in Web Audio and Jen's Feature Queries article. Tried to round up some more posts.


This coming week:

  • Hacks: Publish Belén's HTML tips post, write a View Source promo post focused on speakers, possible Servo post from Sam, others?
  • Schwag and shipping for Berlin. T-shirts if possible (still TBD), video recording setup, etc
  • Communications to new Tech Speakers and Facilitators about next steps
  • Begin thinking about format and speakers for next rev of Phase 2.
