Overall goal of the project:
- Set world record for most software downloads in 24 hour period
- Extend coordinated, global launch of Firefox 3 to include community
- Engage and inspire community members to make them feel invested in the success of Firefox 3
- Introduce Firefox to new users
- Drive downloads of Firefox 3
- Feature as main SFx project (www.spreadfirefox.com/downloadday
Any pre-requisites needed (technology, server capacity, staffing, monitoring, response time, etc):
Development:
- Goal is to have project up and running by 4/9/08 [Date may slip due to launch -- ultimately, it will be 3 weeks before Fx 3)
- Create a web form to allow people to cast pledges [needs dropdown country menu -- WebDev
- Rate per country analytic tool [for use during 24 hour period] -- Jeremy Orem
- Download counter will be needed on Download Day site for day of
- Staging server required
- Email relay information needed for send-to-a-friend functionality
Tracking & Measurement
- Create download logs to track downloads day of
- Secure two independent judges to audit logs
Initial timeline
