Module Specification

NSS provides library interfaces to packages of cryptographic fundtions. Each package is a collection of functions designed to provide access to a particular cryptographic capability typically defined by a standard or related collection of standards. For instance the S/MIME package provides functions for message signing and encryption defined by the IETF standards of the S/MIME working group. Another of these packages implements the functionality of the PKCS #11 standard. This interface defines the NSS Cryptographic Boundary for FIPS 140-2.
