Mozfest 2014: Staff

This wiki page is for Mozilla staff interested in the Mozilla Festival. It addresses travel, accommodation, registration and other logistical details specific to staff. There are different processes for MoCo and MoFo staff, described below.

MoCo

Anyone from MoCo is welcome to participate at Mozfest; however, travel and accommodation are the responsibility of your team. Details below.

The call for proposals is now closed, but if you have a session or activity you still want to do at Mozfest, please contact the Mozfest team at festival@mozilla.org.

MoCo Registration

If you're bringing volunteers and would like to waive the registration fee for them, please contact the Mozfest team: festival@mozilla.org

MoCo Travel

Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of your team. Please confirm with your manager that you can attend.

Book your travel using Egencia. We recommend arriving on Thursday, Oct. 23 and departing on Monday, Oct. 27.

MoCo Recommended Hotels

Accommodation is also for you to arrange on your own.

Many participants will stay at the Park Plaza Westminister Bridge, including Mozilla Foundation staff, so you may wish to book your rooms there.

Currently we are negotiating a Mozilla rate at the Park Plaza for further bookings. Once this is confirmed, we will share details. However, to ensure you have a room, we suggest booking now directly from the hotel using Egencia.

Here are other recommended hotels which have Mozfest rates:

• Citizen M . Central Hotel in Southwark, a few stops from Ravensbourne College on the Jubilee line.
• Mondrian HotelSea containers. We have discounted rooms here, please use this link for the promo code and the Mozfest contact is Rowan, who can be reached at rowan.hand@mhgc.com. This is a brand new hotel opening on the 30th of September along the South Bank.

MoFo

All MoFo staff are required to participate in Mozfest. You will be automatically registered.

MoFo Travel and Accommodation

MoFo staff will arrive in London on the Wednesday, Oct. 22 and depart on Monday, Oct. 27.

Book your flights through Egencia and give us your flight information with the form below. After that we will reserve your hotel room at the Park Plaza Westminister Bridge.

Meetings and Fringe Events in London

Due to the high volume of people in London for Mozfest and the relatively small size of the Mozspace, we kindly ask you to consider meetings outside of the office for your comfort and guaranteed space.

The MozLondon office will be at full capacity on Thursday for the MoFo staff meeting.

Venue suggestions

Here are recommended alternative venues for meetings and fringe events. If you're planning a fringe event, please let the Mozfest team know so we can include it in the program: festival@mozilla.org

• Greenwich venues Jo skinner is our contact her and she can help you find venues for events or restaurants in Greenwich. Mention Mozfest when you email venues@visitgreenwich.org.uk
• Mondrian Hotel which has 5 meeting rooms inter-connected and a theatre style space
• Arts Club. Rent an entire Georgian House for your event
• Covent Garden Hotel. 2 meeting rooms across the road from the Mozilla LDN office
• Wallace Space. Traditional meeting rooms in central London
• South Bank. Famous multi-purpose venue along the South Bank of the river

Suggested Restaurants

• St Johns. Famous English Restaurant not suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans. They have a private room for hire that fits 12
• Tibits. Vegetarian and vegan restaurant in central London
• Dishoom. Bombay street food, with one restaurant in Covent Garden and the other in Shoreditch. Both have private rooms for hire
• Mangle1. Delicious Turkish Ocak Basi in Dalson, worth the trip but not suitable for big groups
• Duck and Waffle. For the dramatic views over london
• Nama. Raw food restaurant

Mozfest Venue

Ravensbourne College, 6 Penrose Way, Greenwich Peninsula London SE10 0EW

Mozfest will be held for the 4th year in a row at Ravensbourne College on the Greenwich Peninsula. The College is on the Jubilee tube line and easily accessible from Greenwich town itself or by Clipper boat along the Thames river.

Schedule Overview

• Thursday, Oct. 23
  • afternoon: MoFo staff meeting
  • evening: MoFo staff dinner
• Friday, Oct. 24
  • morning: facilitation training for anyone running a session
  • 18:00: Mozfest officially opens for registration. Science Fair showcasing interesting projects and people.
• Saturday, Oct. 25
  • 09:00: Full festival program.
  • evening: party party near the venue.
• Sunday, Oct. 26
  • 10:00 Festival program
  • evening: closing demo party

Deliveries

Ravensbourne College will accept and store small parcels or boxes shipped ahead of the festival weekend.

The College has requested No deliveries before the 20th of October as they dont have the storage space.

Please email festival@mozilla.org informing us about the delivery so we can track the order and have it ready for pick up on Friday the 24th of October. In this email please add the following information:

• Courier company making the delivery
• The Track/session associated with the delivery
• What exactly is being delivered
• Who will pick up this delivery at the festival

Recommended Printing Company

Mozfest participants have a special rate with Solopress printers. Barry is our Account Manager and is happy to assist you with your orders. He can be contacted at barry.billings@solopress.com. All orders must be pre paid. All printing orders can be delivered directly to Ravensbourne College after the 20th of October. Please see delivery information above.
