Mozilla Festival

The Mozilla Festival (#MozFest) is an annual gathering of passionate thinkers and inventors from around the world who meet to learn from each other and help forge the future of the web.

Sessions are organized into spaces -- physical and thematic learning hubs based around a broad topic, like science, art, or journalism.

MozFest Volunteers

Mozilla Festival won't be possible without the help of volunteers. As every year, local volunteers will be helping at the venue, for more information about those volunteers, please visit the wiki page.

Space Volunteers

Participation team will coordinate a group of volunteers to help at different spaces. The selection and the registration is already closed, but you can find more information on Discourse topic

Each volunteer will be selected to a specific space, based on skills and knowledge. If you are a volunteer and you don't know which space have you been assigned, please contact Francisco Picolini, Priyanka Nag, or Mayur Patil.

Logistics for Space Volunteers

Space Volunteers will have covered Travel, Accommodation, Visas, meals and local transportation.

The hotel where all Participation volunteers will be staying is the Mercure London Bridge.

How to get from Airport to the hotel

Volunteers will receive an email with a ticket to take the train from Gatwick or Heathrow (depending on their arrival destination). An Oyster card for those who doesn't have will be given as well with enough credit for the whole trip. If you want to buy an Oyster on your own, or if you have one, the maximum allowed credit for that weekend will be 30 GBP (note that aside that we will be covering the 5 GBP that cost the issuance of a new Oyster card, so if you already have one, this cost won't be covered).

Arriving from Heathrow Airport

Look for the signs about Heathrow Express. Bring your QR code with you, only volunteers from Participation will receive an email with a ticket. It's a direct ride to Paddington station. Change to Bakerloo line direction Elephant&Castle, until Baker Street Station (3 stops). Change to Jubilee line, to Stratford, until Southwark Station (8 stops). Other option is Tube from Heathrow station (Picadilly line), until Green Park station, and change to Jubilee Line until Southwark Station.

Tube ticket: 4,90 GBP (without Oyster card)

Arriving from Gatwick Airport

You can take the train Thameslink until London Bridge station and walk from that station to the hotel (15 minutes walk), or take the Bus 381 to Waterloo, and hop down in Lavington Street (Stop SQ), which is a 7 minutes ride. This trip can be paid with an Oyster card.

Bus Ticket: 2,40 GBP (without Oyster card)

Arriving from London City Airport

Take the DLR line to Canning Town, and change to Jubilee line (Wembley Park direction), until Southwark Station (6 stops). This trip can be paid with an Oyster card directly.

Venue

Venue for MozFest will be Ravensbourne, a media campus in the heart of London. Located right next to the O2 arena and North Greenwich tube station, Ravensbourne's nine floors of open work spaces, breakout rooms and cozy corners are ideal for collaboration and creative working. More information.

How to get from Hotel to Venue

You can go either to Southwark Station or London Bridge Station. Take Jubilee line until North Greenwich (approximately 10-15 minutes ride). This trip can be paid with an Oyster card.

Meals

  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch will be covered and offered at MozFest venue.
  • Thursday lunch will be reimbursed for those that arrives early that day to London. Maximum cost covered 15 GBP.
  • Monday lunch will be reimbursed for those that departs late on Monday from London. Maximum cost covered 15 GBP.
  • Dinners: we will be organizing a group dinner on Thursday night. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be a cocktail casual dinner at MozFest venue.
