  • Forums and profiles are nearly done and then I can tackle the community

page, hopefully tomorrow. Next week is short so I'll be working through the weekend to try to have it ready to go Monday.

  • If we need to give IT a heads-up to start preparing the staging server,

now is a good time. We'll want to capture an image of the database from before we start messing things so we have something to roll back to if necessary.

  • I've got the static team home pages working at last, though it's a bit

of a kludge. To match a page to a team, I'm using the "group slug" and matching it to a page slug. For example, if the group slug is "web-qa" then its home page will show the content of the page with the slug "web-qa."

  • It also turns out showing a static team page is much easier if we

disable the activity stream altogether, which we decided to do anyway. It does mean taking a slightly different approach to the Community page, which I think will work better in the end. Instead of starting with a Buddypress activity page and filtering out unwanted types of activities and injecting the syndicated content, I'll take the Community page we already have and inject only the activities we want from Buddypress (forum posts and soon the team blogs).

  • But first I'm going to temporarily put the Community page on the back

burner and spend some time fixing all of the pages that still need attention, especially the forums and profile pages. That will make things look much more polished and less broken.
