From the office, Stanley Park by foot:

  • 2023: the office closed in 2021, RIP :-) but the Flack Block at 163 West Hastings is a nice building to photograph!

start at the front door which is at 163 West Hastings, Vancouver, BC (there's an arch that says "Flack Block" at the front door)

  • turn right onto Hastings
  • immediately turn right onto Cambie
  • turn left onto Water
  • follow Water past Waterfront station and then turn right and follow the street to Stanley Park

From the office, Gastown by foot:

start at the front door which is at 163 West Hastings, Vancouver, BC (there's an arch that says "Flack Block" at the front door)

  • turn right onto Hastings
  • immediately turn right onto Cambie (if you need caffeine go to the incomparable Revolver at 325 Cambie unfortunately it's not open Sundays)
  • turn right onto Water and walk straight into Gastown
  • You will see the ridiculously touristy Gassy Jack statue. Have a drink at Chill WinstonLocal (best patio, too bad the city doesn't close the entire square), a Guinness at the Irish Heather, ice cream at Soft Peaks, best cake in the city at Cadeaux Bakery, Sardine Can has great tapas closed 2020 oh and there's lots of old by Vancouver standards :-) buildings. If you can figure out how to walk to Chinatown :-) challenge :-) !!! Phnomh Penh has awesome Vietnamese and Cambodian food, Matchstick coffee is the best coffee in the city, Ramen Butcher has great ramen, The Boss and New Town Bakery have great greasy but cheap and cheerful Chinese food

By Water

take the Aquabus "putt putt" ferry from Science World (25 minute walk from the office) to Granville Island, Chinatown, the Casino aka Plaza of Nations, Yaletown, Kitsilano and English Bay (in whatever order makes sense to you) (combine with Bicycle tour by taking the ferry to Granville Island or Yaletown and then renting a bicycle from Reckliess

By Bicycle

  • 2023: mobi bicycle share is pretty good if you just need a quick bicycle ride; their e-assist bicycles are a bit pricey but super fun and fast; i just use the e-assist if i am in a hurry, else i use the acoustic ones
  • For nice acoustic and longer term rental bicycles: Rent a bike from one of the shops at Denman and Georgia or Reckless bikes in Yaletown or Granville Island cycle all around the Vancouver Seawall bicycle path and take pictures along the way)
