Scenario

Mary is starting a new course. This year she has quite a lot of students from the other universities. She has used a learning management system with her own students but it is complicated to get accounts for all the students from other universities. Therefore Mary decides that she will experiment with an open course where each participants has her own blog. Her colleagues suggested that she can use EduFeedr for following the course.

She creates a new course in EduFeedr before the first meeting with the students. When meeting the students she asks them to create a special blog for the course. If they already have a blog they can also create a separate category for the course. After that the students can go to EduFeedr website, find their course and add their blog URL there. The students who have laptops with them will do this immediately, others will submit their blog URL later.

The students can also use EduFeedr for following the course, because there are pages that display all the recent blog posts and comments from the course. These pages can be used without logging in.

Mary suggests that students should agree on tags that are used in the blog posts for the course. For example, adding tag named "urgent" to the post means that student is asking for fast feedback. Mary knows that sometimes students do make spelling mistakes or add a different tag. She specifies that tags "hurry" and "please read" are have the same meaning as tag "urgent" which was agreed before by the students. EduFeedr will display posts with these tags on a special page.

Questions about the scenario

  • Did the scenario wake-up any thoughts?
  • Could you image yourself to the role of the teacher?
  • Is there something you would like to change in the scenario?

Comments from the readers

Re-iterating my comment from scenario 1. It would be great to offer some kind of automated tag-setup, and a possibility to add tags via edufeedr.
