Student Ambassadors Activities

With the great number of sign ups we have for the Firefox Student Ambassador program, and the greater plan of Mozilla Reps and Student Ambassadors(FSAs) coordinating with each other, it is important to identify at what point this coordination takes place with the goal of supporting FSAs in their efforts, creating an effective funnel for the ReMo program, and not overwhelming Reps who will be engaged in these relationships.

First 5 Steps

For FSAs to get started in the community past signing up for the program, some initial tasks are designed for FSAs which will help us identify the true potential of the group and channel the energies accordingly. Below etherpad has two separate first 5 steps:

Important Note: The tasks have to be accomplished (and their success of this process gauged) before we can
even start to craft the process past these steps at which point it would be appropriate to connect
FSAs and Rep Advisors.

Survey

A *great* suggestion at ReMo Camp was to do a survey of current participants with the goal of figuring out what attracted them to the program (so that it will better inform our recruitment strategy in the future).

Presentation

Another suggestion was to create a template presentation about the FSA program(that can be localized) that can be given by Reps/Communities to universities in their region

  • We need your help framing the content for this presentation. What is the most important information that you think should be included?
  • Add your points to the etherpad: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/fsa-presentation-feedback
  • Also, if you have slide deck from your previous talks related to Student Ambassadors, please place a link to the same at the bottom of the etherpad.

FSA Advisers (Mozilla Reps & Student Ambassadors Relation)

FSA Advisers are a select group of dedicated ReMos who are interested in helping/guiding Student Ambassadors who have reached a point at which (in an FSA's progression) it would be appropriate to link them to a Rep for mentoring, gear, budget, etc.

Tentative Structure: (again, something we'll work on determining together).

  • Step 1: Student Ambassadors are encouraged to complete the first 5 steps listed in the above section.
  • Step 2: Student Ambassador or Firefox Club that has completed the first 5 steps can email a summary of their tasks to FSA Advisors email alias[TBD] in a set format that will be available shortly which will help Student Ambassadors share their accomplishments in a simple and more informative way.
  • Step 3: Based on the region the email is coming from, one FSA would take charge and review the summary submitted. If the FSA Adviser feels he needs a second opinion, he/she can discuss with his fellow Advisers or reach to respective Regional Marketing Ambassador to get more information.
  • Step 4:
    • If the summary submitted does not meet the criteria, FSA Adviser sends them a email on how they can improve and guide them to accomplish the same. [Feedback email template - TBD]
    • If the summary sounds perfect, the FSA Adviser sends congratulatory email[TBD] to the Student Ambassador or Firefox Club on their work. In the email suggest next steps:
      • Create a profile at Mozillians.org
      • Share the un-vouched Mozillians.org profile with respective FSA Adviser to get vouched
      • FSA Adviser will then award a 'FSA Open Badge' to the Student Ambassador who has completed the above steps successfully. [Badge infrastructure TBD]

Please add your ideas/ feedback at the bottom of the etherpad: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/fsaprogram-fsarepsrelationship-interestform

One FSA Adviser can advice/vouch to a maximum of 10* Student Ambassador/ Firefox Clubs.
