About Mozilla Developer Network (MDN)

The Mozilla Developer Network is a resource that brings together various developer communities within the Mozilla universe and provides a platform for developers to learn, share, and collaborate.

  • GOALS
    • Improve discover-ability of resources for our Web, Add-ons, Mobile, Firefox/Mozilla and Labs developer communities.
    • Create a home for developer marketing and evangelism efforts for Mozilla as a company and community.
    • Engage with developer communities more frequently to raise awareness of Mozilla programs and increase participation.
    • Re-establish Mozilla as leader in "open Web" innovation through higher visibility for our developer communities.
  • AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
    • Website and wiki platform selection, customization, and maintenance (learn from our issues with MindTouch Deki)
    • Better communication and collaboration with product teams (Firefox, Add-ons, Labs, etc) for a more integrated developer marketing program
    • Surfacing important developer issues and addressing their needs through direct and frequent feedback (surveys, User Voice integration, etc)
    • Showcasing our leadership in Web innovation and standards support (woff, open video, etc) to stay ahead of the competition
    • Better use of metrics to track engagement and more research to understand our developer segments in order to provide useful insights to drive our decisions.
    • Rebuild our developer ground game by bringing back community events like Developer Days and trying new experiments like the Mozilla User Groups (MUGs) program or Hacks Nights.
