How do I edit pages?

So, you want to get right down to it? Great, here's a quick how-to:

  • After logging in, navigate to the page you want to edit in your browser. Example:

http://kubla.sm-cms01.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.5/firstrun

  • Click the yellow menu in the top right corner of the page, and choose "Edit" (todo: should say something about permissions if the edit option is missing)
  • You'll be greeted with the main editing view for the CMS. The page contents will be in the text box named "Body" (todo: explain what all the other stuff on the page is, after we get it organized properly)
  • Make any changes you'd like and click "preview"
  • If the page looks the way you'd like, click "submit"
  • todo: explain workflow permissions - changes aren't going to appear right away

What are the "Publishing Workflow" states?

When you save a page, you'll be asked where it is in the publishing workflow. This represents a timeline from when the page is first created to when it is available to the public on the live web site. The options below are a full list - you may or may not see all the options on the list in the CMS.

  • Work In Progress: You've made some changes to a node, but you're not finished yet.
  • Needs Review: You've completed the changes you want to make, and you're ready for the page to go live. By choosing this option a publisher will be asked to review your page and push it to the live site.
  • Reviewed -- Needs Work: The page was reviewed by a publisher and has some errors that kept it from going live. Please look at the comments section for specific details.
  • Published: When this option is selected, the page will appear on the live site immediately.
