Arriving in Colombia

Connections

Most international flights arrive in El Dorado, Bogota before connecting on to Rafael Núñez in Cartagena (Barrio Crespo, Calle 71 N° 3-89, Tel: + 57 (5) 666 6610). The airport is located just 15 minutes from the hotel tourist sector and 10 minutes from the walled city. The airport is located just 10 minutes from Las Americas Hotel.

Cartagena receives direct flights from the following cities: Caracas, Fort Lauderdale, Lima, Maracaibo Miami, and Panama

Entry/Exit Fee

  • Entry: There is no fee to enter Colombia
  • Exit: "Travelers leaving by plane must pay an exit tax in cash at the airport. The tax varies with the dollar/peso conversion rate but is usually between $35 and $70 USD. Some airlines include all or a portion of this tax in the cost of your airline ticket; check with your airline to find out how much you will have to pay at the airport." This exit fee must be paid in cash and you cannot pay with a US $100 bill. More information about the exit fee can be found here and here.

Please note that all international travelers that stay in Colombia for less than 30 days will obtained an exemption from the departure tax. Before checking in for their return flight they must present their documents to the Aeronautica Civil desk at the airport requesting the exemption. Colombians with dual citizenship are also exempted from the departure tax.

Passengers that have a one ticket for their entire travel can request the tax exemption at Aeronautica Civil office in Cartagena. Passengers that have two different tickets must do the above in Bogota. Airline staff will guide you if you need any assistance as this process must be done in person.

Please remember that you can check in online 24 hours prior departure.

Customs

Travelers arriving in Colombia will be given the Declaration of Baggage and Currency Form, which must be signed, specifying the personal effects, merchandise and the amount of currency that the passenger is bringing into the country. This will be provided during the flight.

Airport

The majority of international flights will be transferring at the El Dorado International Airport and arriving at the Rafael Núñez International Airport (code: CTG) in Cartagena. More information about this airport can be found here.

Log on to http: www.aerocivil.gov.co in order to obtain further information regarding air traffic in the country.

Transportation to Hotel

Shuttle

The team at SEE COLOMBIA TRAVEL will be at baggage claim at the arrival of each of the participants and has coordinated the transfer to the hotel by car, van or bus depending on the number of people coming. The team of SEE COLOMBIA TRAVEL will be identified with t-shirts with the event logo and will have identification signals for easy location. They will have a sign clearly marked that says 'Mozilla Firefox'.

Please do not take public transportation to the hotel. If a vendor representative is not immediately in-site, please wait until you see them and they connect you with the pre-reserved shuttle.

Capilla del Mar

Those individuals arriving before Saturday (May 25th) will be staying at the hotel Capilla del Mar. Please check-in directly at the hotel reception desk

  • There will be shuttles schedules to transport individuals on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning to the Las Americas Hotel. On Thursday and Friday, a shuttle will be bringing you to the working room at Las Americas. On Saturday morning, shuttle service will take place 9:00 - 11:00am.
  • On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, please eat breakfast at Capilla del Mar before transporting to Las Americas

Working Room: May 23-24

There is a room within the business center reserved for your use on Thursday (May 23rd) and Friday (May 24th) at the Las Americas resort. The business center is located on the 4th floor of the Torre del Mar tower and will be open 8:00am to 8:00pm.

Launch Camp Reception Desk

SeeColombia will be staffing in the lobby of the hotel on Saturday (beginning at 8am), Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (until the last person departs). Please check-in directly at the Reception desk for your room key as well as a tour of the hotel!

Hotel Rooms

All of our rooms will be located in the Casa de Playa tower.

Check-in/Check-out

Check-in: 3pm / Check-out: 1pm

At check-out you will get the room key card after they obtain a photocopy your passport at Reception Desk. When departing, please surrender your key card at the front desk.

Hotel Wifi

There will be printed cards at the reception desk and concierge table with username and password to get internet access. The WIFI Hotel capacity is 50MB. However, this event will have additional WIFI capacity.

Breakfast

We will be eating breakfast in the Meson Don Cristobal room on Sunday and Monday.

Cartagena has a pleasantly warm climate, temperatures are roughly 28ºC (82ºF) to 30ºC (86ºF).

Health Tips

Most frequent illnesses are altitude sickness, stomach problems, malaria and yellow fever in some forest areas. Before travelling to jungle regions, you must have the yellow fever and tetanus vaccines at least 15 days in advance.

During your time in Cartagena you won´t be visiting any risk areas but it is advisable to take the yellow fevers shot.
