Leadership Summit Feedback

We gave input to George regarding the Leadership Summit, MozFest and Work Week. We discussed about the proposed application process and gave our input on how this could be improved and what to look out for. We agreed that the best way to notify Mozillians about the application process once it's open, is to send individual mails, instead of just relying on mailing lists, since people might have a schedule to check the mailing lists and therefore might miss the announcement so they could apply in time. Further we talked about the timing of the Summit, since it's in between everything and this increases the stress on volunteers and staff. See https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/draft-for-feedback-developing-participation-leaders-mozfest-leadership-summit-work-week-2015/3390/14?u=mkohler for the discussion that is going on now.

Council Status

After analyzing the past few weeks in Council, we discussed the current Council status.

Budget Requests: We have missed quite a few budget requests recently, mostly due to votings that needed to be extended. Currently the voting takes 6 days (3 days discussion phase, 3 days voting). Our current solution for this problem is to use the discussion phase better, so we can instantly start voting once the voting opens. We are aware that missed votings were causing troubles in the past and we're confident that we can fix this.

General discussions: Discussions on the mailing list currently don't involve all of the Council members and therefore are quite hard to move forward. We discussed this and came up with a solution so Council members don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of emails.

Program improvements: Extending our Work Week session regarding "Volunteer Organisation + Structure", we will set up another work shop to expand on that. The goal is to analyze what is working with Reps and what is not, and coming up with ideas on how to improve and make the best out of Reps, since we see a lot of potential there.

Feel free to drop us a line with your feedback at reps-council@mozilla.com if you have other ideas and feedback!

Open Work

We heavily reorganized what we're working on, so we don't have a lot of tasks that stick around forever. Instead we're trying now to focus on a few tasks, but get them finished in time to move forward with other tasks after that.
