Action Items

Schedule & Progress on Upcoming Releases

Firefox 3.5.11 / Firefox 3.6.7

  • We have ~450k ADUs, which isn't growing (likely due to people moving to 4.0 betas, as we aren't throttled...bug 577784 checked)
  • Created 3.6.7 build #2 yesterday to fix bug 560037
  • Plan to release 3.6.7 build #2 to the beta audience late today or early tomorrow (depending on QA signoff)
  • Still planning to release on the 20th
  • Christian will be out next week, but available via cell and checking email

Firefox 4.0 Beta 2

  • Engineering moving on to beta 2 blockers
    • yes, we know there are too many
  • major changes in this milestone
    • XPCOM changes which break all 3rd party apps and binary add-ons
    • Tabs on Top for OSX
    • App Tabs
    • Retained Layers
    • JS performance improvements
    • CSS Transitions and Transformations
  • developers feel like we shouldn't branch until after retained layers and e10s for fennec
  • seth, axel and beltzner to talk about l10n-strategy
    • would like to make next beta localized if possible, might not make it
  • lmesa will be responsible for updating the beta webpages
    • focus on tabs on top OSX, CSS transitions, retained layers, anything else?

Jetpack SDK 0.6

  • scope scaled back due to time taken up by summit preparation/attendance/recovery
  • focus is on API compatibility with Electrolysis (in preparation for Electrolysis integration in subsequent release)
  • freeze Monday, July 19 11:59pm PT
  • tentative RC1 Tuesday, July 20
  • tentative final Tuesday, July 27

Add-on Builder.next

  • planning underway
  • focus is on addressing bugs found during testing/usage of last month's preview release
  • will likely happen later this month (around the same time as Jetpack SDK 0.6)
