+Whoops, somehow missed noticing the above... that's the same thing I just said below re use cases. Yes, I think dragging tags between windows or into new windows would be a very nice behaviour that doesn't require any additional UI encrustation.

+Not sure what the users above are referring to, but what I would like have is teh ability to view multiple tabs simultaneously.  At a minimum, tobe able to view 2 tabs side by side.  A great example of this is in [http://www.jedit.org jEdit] - it can split the viewing pane into 4 quadrants, each displaying a different "tab".
+This would be really great for comparing two pages; reading the help in Tab1 on how to fill out the form in Tab2 (e.g., view the "Editing Help" below in a different tab instead of a new window); or for monitoring several tabs.

+I'm a tab power user. I'd love to have a keyboard shortcut that is the Firefox Tab equivalent of Windows "Alt Tab" for toggling through open aps. Specifically, I'd like to be able to toggle through open tabs with something like "Alt Shift" instead of having to grab my mouse and point to each tab. Should be simple and a great usability improvement IMO.

-It seemed to me that none of the three listed use cases really represent what I do, which is categorised tabbed browsing. I use several browser windows and certainly don't have 20 tabs open at once, but use tabs to group related activities. For example, if I'm reading a forum, I'll middle-click to open a whole bunch of threads to read, so I might have 5 or so tabs in that window; but there won't be any tabs not related to the forum. If I want to do something else I'll have another window. similarly, I use a single window to read webcomics in, but open them all in tabs frm a bookmarks folder. Dunno how common this is but anyhow I think it's a pretty hardcore use that doesn't involve '20 tabs at once' - or rather, it does, but they're in different windows.

+The "hardcore tab user" only has 10-20 tabs open at a time, which means the scroll bar is probably fine.  *This* hardcore tab user currently has 100 open, 12 per row over 9 rows, and I switch between most of them on a regular basis.  (Thank goodness for site icons and [http://tmp.garyr.net/ Tab Mix Plus].)  A scroll bar isn't going to do me any good&mdash;can the tab scroller still be overridden/disabled? --[[User:Peterj|PeterJ]] 20:38, 26 June 2006 (EDT)
