Firefox 5

• Started the Aurora channel last Wednesday to great fanfare
  • Thanks to all those that made it happen on time
• What happens on Aurora now?
  • Fixes to security issues
  • Stability fixes
  • Backouts and preffing off
• Aurora triage/status meetings have started
  • See this message to dev-planning for our current meeting plan
• What do the new bugzilla flags mean?
  • tracking-firefox# - bugs that need to be resolved (either by fixing, getting more information to invalidate, backing out other fixes, etc) before the next step in the release process
  • status-firefox# - tracks the state of items found after the mozilla-central → mozilla-aurora merge, as regular bug status now reflects the Firefox 6 status
  • approval-mozilla-aurora - request to land a particular patch on the mozilla-aurora repository. All patches landing on mozilla-aurora need this approved
    • Note that a bug can be approved but not tracking (for high value / low risk fixes that we won't drive to get in)
• The merge from Aurora to Beta happens on 2011-05-17

Thunderbird

• We'll be adopting a schedule-driven release for Thunderbird similar to the one being used by Firefox.
• First step: Miramar nightlies are now being built against the Aurora branch of Gecko/Firefox.

Drumbeat

• Knight-Mozilla News Project. Prepping to launch innovation challenges around 1) open video 2) web apps 3) reinventing online comments & debate. Want feedback on this messaging. Do these challenge statements make sense? Do they motivate? Would you, as a challenge participant, have enough info to get started?
  
• Web literacy project. What are 10 things Mozilla wished everyone on the Internet knew? Looking for your ideas & feedback.

  • Kenya: Firefox party in Nairobi, as well as community meetup. Read Pierros Pappadeas' write up here.
  • Tunisia: 60 attendees at the Firefox 4 launch party. Details here.
  • Rome: 150 people made it out to the "Firefox and You" launch party following a + http://vimeo.com/22070065 grassroots campaign.
  • Madrid: Mozilla Hispano kicked off it's series of launch parties in Madrid and launched an animated video on HTML 5. Coverage included Gizmodo and Magistrike.
