Guidelines for use of language codes

mi
The use of mi to refer to a Māori localization of software is ambiguous in its description of which dialect of Māori is being localized and it's use for any localization project is discouraged.
mi-NZ
Should be used to refer specifically to the standard te reo Māori o Aotearoa promoted by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori - The Māori Language Commission.
mi-X-<iwi or region>
Can be used to refer to a localization that uses the language of the tangata whenua of a particular region or iwi. e.g. mi-X-tai_tokerau or mi-X-tuhoe.

NOTE: Iwi and regional guidelines are still being decided upon for compatibility with Mozilla software and all software in general, and is subject to change.
