Below are the approved uses for gear at each level.

When requesting gear to recognize the efforts of another Mozillian, please also make sure to check your team's conversion points. If your team does not have conversion points developed yet, you can still request gear. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines and approved uses, check with your Team Gear Coordinator or Steward.

Splendid Gear

Approved uses for Splendid Gear include:

• Speaker gift (Conference, Mozilla event, Brown-bag)
• Prize for winners of an official Mozilla contest
  
• Team morale booster
• Gift to Press or Press Tours
• Stock at Mozilla Spaces (as ordered by the Mozilla Space Coordinators)
• Campaigns (Mobile, Desktop, B2G, Apps, Add-ons, Marketing, etc)
• On-boarding for new hires 
• Special MoCo and MoFo events (MozCamp, Mozilla Festival)
• Conferences/Industry events (SXSW, Mobile Asia Expo)
• Mozilla Rituals (Year End Event)
• Events at Mozilla Spaces (Regional Meetings, Support Days)
• Select Developer and Contributor Engagement Events (MDN Hack Day, InterCommunity, Meet-ups)

Splendider Gear

Approved uses for Splendider Gear include:

• Speaker gift (Conference, Mozilla event, Brown-bag)
• Prize for winners of an official Mozilla contest
• In recognition of a situational special effort of a Mozillian
  
• Gifts to Press or for Press Tours
• Select Stock at Mozilla Spaces (as ordered by the Mozilla Space Coordinators)
• For a special visitor to a Mozilla office/space
• Campaigns (Mobile, Desktop, B2G, Apps, Persona, Add-ons, Marketing, etc)
• On-boarding for new hires
  
• Large scale MoCo events (eg. MozCamp)
• Mozilla Rituals (Year End Event)
• Events at MozSpaces (Regional Meetings, Support Days)
• Select Developer and Contributor Engagement Events (MDN Hack Day, InterCommunity Meet-ups)
• Recruiting
• Special giveaways at industry events and large-scale Mozilla-driven events

The value of Splendider Gear is $5 - $20.

Splendidest Gear:

This is really good gear! Splendidest Gear should only be ordered under special circumstances. Ultimately, all Splendidest orders will be reviewed and approved at the discretion of the Gear Team.

Situations where Splendidest Gear is appropriate:

• Gifts for featured speakers, VIPs, key partners, and those driving Mozilla's presence at events and conferences
• As a special prize to a winner of an official Mozilla contest
• In recognition of extraordinary and sustained effort of a Mozillian (Example: someone who dedicated months of their time in support of a project which significantly furthers Mozilla's goals)
• Very splendid and special occasions (Examples: Achievement or milestone in the career; Recognition of the driver of an achievement or milestone as it relates to the success of a Mozilla Project)
• Gifts to Press or for Press Tours
• Limited stock at Mozilla Spaces (as ordered by the Mozilla Space Coordinator)
• VIPs, key partners, or special visitors to Mozilla spaces
• Annual Organizational Recognition Effort
• On-boarding new hires
• Recruiting (special occasions)
