Revision as of 20:05, 9 December 2005

This page has been setup to keep track of the URLs that need forwarding during the transition from mozilla.org to mozilla.com

Proposed Process

12/2/05

Steven, beltzner and pkim met today to plan fixes to missing pages and broken links on mozilla.com after the migration of web content from mozilla.org earlier this week.

Here are our proposed next steps:

-Steven will immediately correct the missing page for Firefox Start that is linked to from Firefox 1.0.x within the app.

-Steven will turn off directory level forwarding for /products from .org to .com, and instead redirect specific pages within /products to the appropriate page on .com.

-Over the weekend, Steven will go through the files in the following .org key directories, and make a recommendation on migrating content.

/products

/products/firefox

/products/thunderbird

/press

/about

-Starting the week of 12/12, Steven will conduct a similar review on:

/developers (dria: do you want to be involved with this?)

/support (should we get David Tenser involved with this?)

-pkim will follow up with ZakG about building out content for mozillafoundation.org. Currently mozillafoundation.org requests are redirected to www.mozilla.org/foundation.

-pkim will follow up with cbeard to review the current news posting system on mozilla.org/press and assess updating the current script that processes press releases, with the goal of automating news postings on mozilla.com/press

-pkim will follow up with rebron to get a list of all URLs that are hard-coded into 1.0.x and 1.5, and will pass this on to Steven, to ensure we are not breaking hard-coded links.

Polvi has posted a report from a query on all successful requests for pages on mozilla.org. 36,000+ pages. At the link below, the left column indicates # of successful requests for the month of November 2005. Have a look and let's review Friday.

Report: http://stats.mozilla.org/uniq-active-www-pages.txt
