Friends of the Tree

• Alex Polvi wants us to recognize Jamey Boje for his late-night last-minute work on the banner for 500M downloads and for his help in getting the site ready for this milestone.
• Archaeopteryx, another amo-editor said "I want to nominate Oliver Saier and Mel Reyes for managing each more than 5000 add-on updates at https://addons.mozilla.org since they have joined."

Development Updates

Fx 2.0.0.13 / TB 2.0.0.12

Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 shipped last Tuesday to a fully captivated audience. We held a post-mortem on Friday and discussed a number of issues. Notes are on the wiki [soon].

Still on schedule to freeze 1.8.1.13 this Friday at 11:59pm. If you have patches that have been approved, please land them as soon as possible so QA can start testing and verifying. If you own a blocker and don't think you'll have time to finish it, please let us know.

I also want to highlight a post from Boris Zbarsky on dev-planning. Getting branch blockers fixed is something we've been struggling with for several releases now. If anyone has ideas on how to improve this situation, please reply to Boris's post.

  • Lots of ramp-up time, poring over mocks, and browser-matrix testing

  • Marco has been testing these pages for accessibility!
• Firefox 3 / Remora
  • Filed 3 bugs
  • Verified 18 FIXED trunk Firefox 3 / Remora bugs. bug 420527 was a big challenge test test, but it's a pretty serious bug
• AMO - Started to work on bug 408159, which is testing two production-grade AMO boxes in China, to put them in rotation. Triaged our AMO 3.2 bugs with Basil and morgamic into 42 must-fix issues.

• Add-on update to Firefox 3 has commenced - we currently have 163 pending updates & 94 new nominations. AMO Editors and interns are working to reduce the queue.
• For add-ons, 47.63% are claiming Firefox 3.0b2 or higher compatibility

Foundation Updates

• Grants and related expenditures
  • The GNOME Foundation announced the GNOME outreach program for accessibility, which the Mozilla Foundation helped fund.

• CAs and related issues
  • Frank gave preliminary approval to the application from VeriSign to add a new EV-capable root.
  • Frank also worked on EV-related applications from Comodo, GeoTrust, and thawte.

• Public communication
  • David continued worked on various www.mozilla.org-related tasks.

• Conferences and events
  • Zak spoke at a number of Norwegian universities February 25-27 on open source and Mozilla-related topics.
  • Frank worked on arrangements for CSUN.
  • Gerv attended FOSDEM.

• Other
  • Gerv worked on a script to assist with the proposed Bugzilla product/component reorganization.

• Upcoming activities
  • Frank is planning to be in Mountain View on March 12 and at the CSUN conference on March 13 in Los Angeles CA.
  • Frank is also planning to attend the Freedom to Connect conference March 31 and April 1, 2008 in Silver Spring MD, and (if possible) the Berkman@10 conference May 15-16 in Boston MA.
  • Zak will be speaking at a number of Norwegian universities February 25-27 on open source and Mozilla-related topics, at the PHP Quebec Conference March 12-14, and other events later in 2008.
