Toolkit:Password Manager/2015

Overview

This is a Firefox Accounts authenticated cloud based password manager.

Problem we're solving

• Too many passwords for users to remember
• Users often use weak passwords or repeat them across multiple sites
• Lots of friction in filling out forms or repetitive typing of passwords

Vision

Passwords are the foundation of identity and security online, the browser should help reduce the pain remembering passwords and encourage best practices in password usage. A cloud Firefox password manager differentiates itself with:

• code in core repo enables reduce version offset with Firefox trains
• can leverage other cloud services such as sync and identity/profile management tools

• How do we keep up with forward and backward compatibility with changing form field identifiers
• How do we build this to optimize landing of code. Consider low level add on?
