Fennec releases will run on a couple different platforms (eventually). Each platform may have it's own way of installing applications.

Installing Fennec on Windows Mobile

Using your current web browser, navigate to http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/wince/1.0a1/fennec-1.0a1.en-US.wince-arm.cab Install-enter-url.png

Click yes to accept the download. Install-accept-download.png

Depending on your connection speed, the download may take a while. Install-download-progress.png

if you had previously installed Fennec, you'll see this dialog. Click yes. Install-previous-version.png

If you device is software locked, you'll see this dialog. Click yes. Install-unsigned-cab.png

The install process will take a few minutes Install-install-progress.png

Once its complete you'll see this dialog. Click OK. Install-success.png

To launch click on "Programs" in the start menu. Launch-programs.png

From there, click on the Fennec icon. Launch-icon.png

Installing Fennec on Nokia N810

Fennec releases are provided as .deb packages and can be installed directly to your N810 from the Application Manager. But first, you'll need to configure your Application Manager to look in the Mozilla repository. That's easy to do and once you do it, you won't need to worry about it again. Here is the quick information for setting up the Application Manager:

Here are the step-by-step instructions:

  • Open the Application Manager. You should it listed under the Settings folder.

  • You need to add the Mozilla repository to your list of catalogs. Choose "Application manager > Tools > Application catalog..." from the menu.

  • You should see some application repositories already in the list. You need to add Mozilla's, so press the New button. Here is the information you need to fill into the form so Mozilla's repository is added to the catalog:

  • After filling in the information and pressing OK, you can also Close the Catalog window. At this point, you should see the catalog list is being refreshed.
  • You can now Browse installable applications from the main Application Manager window. You can choose All or Internet and Fennec should be listed as an installable application.

  • Choose fennec and press the Install button (at the bottom of the screen). After some dialogs double check your desire to install this non-official software, the application will be downloaded and installed.

  • After a successful installation, you can launch Fennec from the Extras folder:
