• Privacy Forum (10am - 3pm PST)
  • In conjunction with the upcoming FTC privacy roundtable in Berkeley, will be discussing Mozilla's views on privacy including engineering, organizational, and legal perspectives (and how those are intertwined here at Moz). Will spend significant time on working groups generating variables and settings within those for use in privacy policies across the web. The outside invitees are largely lawyers, but the point is to have a cross-lawyer-engineer-everyone discussion and working groups. Please come and have your opinion heard and incorporated into the deliverable. Questions? Ask Julie or Aza.

Firefox

• Dietrich took some time to refactor the index of active front end projects so that it matches up against to our team goals list. If you're looking to get involved with high priority Firefox front end projects, that's a great place to see what's top-of-mind!
• Feedback from Firefox 3.6 indicates that we're getting great perceived performance wins by focusing on optimization of I/O operations, specifically batching and taking them off the main thread. This work will continue.
• Will be scheduling a Firefox 3.6 Post Mortem later this week focusing on the development and release cycles
• Android Update (vlad)

Branch work: Firefox 3.0.x / Firefox 3.5.x / Thunderbird 2.0.0.x

• Schedule for Firefox 3.0.18 and Firefox 3.5.8 are:
  • Code freeze: January 19, 11:59pm (overdue)

Release Engineering

• Firefox 3.6 release - first release to include unittest and talos coverage for the actual release bits
• turned off build+unittest jobs for good on trunk
• release automation for partner builds is now in place for 3.6 builds
• setup repack-on-change builders for Maemo L10n and Fennec Desktop L10n

Developer Tools

• Bespin Embedded 0.6 was released on January 15th. Still an alpha quality release, but quite a bit of progress made over last month's 0.5.2 release.
