AMO:Editors/EditorGuide/FirstSteps
New editors need to be given permission by an admin to gain access to the editor tools. Once the admin has given you permission, you should see an Editor Tools item in the Tools menu on the top right of the AMO homepage.
If it doesn't appear on the dropdown menu, try logging out and logging back in. If it still doesn't appear, contact the admin who should have given you editor access.
Clicking on the menu item will take you to the Editor Summary page. It mostly displays some editor performance statistics and the editor tools menu.
Editor Tools overview
Message of the Day
The Message of the Day is maintained by AMO Admins, and it appears on a white box at the top of all editor pages. It will normally display very important messages, so make sure to read it whenever you see it. It can have information about where should editors direct their focus, recent policy changes, or important notices about specific reviews pending in the queue.
If the message is unclear or not relevant anymore, please contact the mailing list.
Queues
The review queues are the most important of the editor tools. They can be accessed from the queues menu in editor pages. There are 3 queues:
- Nominated add-ons: new add-ons being nominated for the public.
- Pending updates: new versions for public add-ons pending review.
- Moderated reviews: user comments flagged for moderation.
These queues will be covered in detail in the rest of this guide.
Performance
The performance tools display visualizations of all your recent reviews, with comparisons against team averages and cumulative stats. You should review your stats regularly to see how your contributions change through time.
