Promotion plan for the new kitsune support forums
The plan is to inform people about the new forums in growing circles:
The first round of information goes out to our own active contributor community, it should show the new features of the forums and how to use it to give support (that it’s not about discussions anymore etc.) [To be done before the new support forums go live.] [done on IRC, TBD on the forums]
The second round is directed at the greater mozilla community that reads planet. The blog posts will focus on how the forums work (me too counts, highlighted answers etc) and how this will change the support experience completely. It will also mention the filters for tags feature and that people can filter for the things they care (sync, Firefox home, Firefox 4 etc.). the goal is twofold: getting developers to recognize the power of the support forum for their work, and sparking an interest in casual followers of planet to try the new forums and hopefully get hooked on how it’s a more pleasant experience than normal forums. [To be done shortly after the support forums go live, so we have some time to work with the tags, and people can try the forum features out immediately]
The third round is directed towards people outside of the core Mozilla community. We will let Firefox users know about the forums on Twitter and facebook. Engagement needs to be contacted to help with this. [To be done when we have familiarized ourselves with the forums and no prominent bugs keep users from using them]
