Ignite
Innovation Challenge Project Manager
The project:
Mozilla will conduct, in conjunction with a series of high-profile partners, an 8 month open innovation project to demonstrate the potential and capacity of ultra high-speed broadband networks, seeding demand for and investment into their development. Participating individuals, organizations and institutions will prototype and develop innovative services in areas of national priority, including smart health, clean energy, cyber-learning, smart transportation, public safety, and advanced manufacturing.
Responsibilites:
•Bolster Mozilla's capacity to design and manage Open Innovation Challenges. The organization uses the model to drive participation in shaping product development and innovation.
•Conduct the challenge in two phases—individuals and project teams will compete for prizes and iterative funding to develop web applications that use open standards and ultra high-speed networks.
•Research and report on transformative potential and future applications for ultra high speed (1Gbp) broadband networks.
•Seek out opportunities to promote the program, to attract participants and submissions, to bring attention to the best projects and ideas, and promote high-speed broadband web applications that use standards-based technologies.
•Manage the review process, including: building the review panel, evaluation framework, collecting and analyzing responses, selecting projects and participants for advancement through the process
•Work closely with our grant partner in the design and implementation of the program. Liaise with a range of partners including government, universities, ISPs, app developers, and startups.
•Balance sound process design with flexibility and a commitment to excellence.
•Establish Mozilla as thought leader in future of high-speed broadband.
