Reps/SOPs/Campaign video
This is an SOP for producing a campaign video.
What is a campaign video?
If you are running for Council, you will need to create a 60 second campaign video. This video is the candidate's 60-second pitch to Reps to help them make up their minds when they go to the ballot box.
Why a campaign video?
Video is a great format to help give a human face to the election process. It also helps candidates tap into their creative side and connect with Reps on another level that's direct, genuine and a lot of fun. Through the video medium, Reps can get to know the candidates better, understand what they stand for and have a more personal connection with the candidates. Lastly, if you want to be a Council member, you need to be comfortable showing your face since you are representing Reps across the Mozilla project and in the world.
What are the technical requirements to create a video?
If you have a webcam, an internal microphone on our computer and basic video recording software, you are good to go :) There are no specific requirements as to what equipment or software you need to use, as long as the video is good enough quality so that your face is recognizeable and your voice is understandable.
How long should the video be?
The video can last up to 60 seconds.
What should the content of the video be?
You have 100% artistic freedom to produce your video. You basically have up to 60 seconds to convince Reps why you are a strong candidate to run for Council. It's up to you to say whatever you want.
Here are a few tips:
- try to be original and have fun while making the video
- try to speak to the topics that Reps are most interested in based on the mozmoderator questions
- AVOID creating content that can be considered offensive
- use as much time as you need, provided it it less than 60 seconds.
NOTE: Council members will review submitted videos before making them public
How do I submit a video?
Send your video as an attachment to bking [at] mozilla [dot] com. Deadline for submissions is
