This implies that we will be getting rid of extensions.ini (YAY!). This probably means making the extension manager a directory provider or something custom. I would like to do the latter for the chrome registry at least by Firefox 4 anyway.

Extension implications

What implications would this have on existing extensions? What changes would be needed to support the new system?
