  • irc.mozilla.org #l10n-drivers for backchannel

Agenda

  • New localizations, process documentation wrap up
  • QA update
  • AMO/Language packs - improving our end user and localizer experience
  • All-Hands agenda
  • Other?

Attendees

WilC, Mic, Axel, TimR, Clint Talbert, Rob Campbell

QA update

  • Clint has done significant work with othes (RobCee, Axel, etc) to get Minotaur to this stage of readiness
  • Next steps are to run builds through it to make sure it's doing all stuff it's supposed to be doing, will use partner builds for this next step and then L10n builds
  • There are still known fixes that need to be taken care of as well as minor tweaks to formatting etc, these will be addressed after the next step (above)
  • Comments from team were:
    • bookmarks aspect changed the most, nice to see this set of changes
    • have tested on mac and windows now; although still need to manually tweak for each platform; will have to change once we integrate into a real harnessing environment
  • We do have the resources to create a build bot master and slave environment, however this will be addressed against other priorities
  • It was noted that we may need new hardware for this; may need some dedicated VMs for this; scaling is really the issue with L10n builds; currently there is one tinderbox per locale; issues are there is no central point that indicates which builds are finished

ACTION RobCee to contact IT regarding VM ware

  • A discussion point for later might be: what kind of changes we'd like to have to trigger those builds?; we'd like to have a discussion at All Hands meeting in August and with Build team representation
  • ACTION Mic to set up meeting in advance of all hands to create an agenda for the All hands; meeting should include: Rob Helmer or Nick Thomas, Axel, RobCee, Clint, Timr; aim for first week of august Thursday or Friday

documentation/bug que

  • We need to create a constructive position on language packs (should or should not be on AMO); we're blocking on this progressing currently
  • for Gerv to proceed, we'd need john saying go ahead now anyway even without our position clearly defined

AMO/language packs

  • broken out to into two efforts for resolution: end user and localizer build experiences
  • we've yet to address the policy that sets what level of quality a language pick build needs to achieve before being posted on a new promotional page (to be created)

DRAFT

all hands

  • what happened last time, walk through workflow coming up and think back about what things are going to cause stress in the system so as to minimize that
  • most concerning thing over Fx2 experience was didn't really have an idea of which locales were not ramping up and which were going to be really late and would like to block on them e.g., help issue in simplified Chinese found that on freeze date; want to add more tracking on how our localizations are doing
