Firefox QA Standup - January 7th, 2015

Discussion Items

  • Crash stats issues - 3rd party systems that are hurting us 3d vision, anti-virus systems - we need some way to ensure that things get acted on upstream/or cross stream.
    • Should escalate more - perhaps with engineering meeting
      • Need to know who are the point people to escalate to - for example youtube, etc
      • (ctalbert) - I will go find out who in bizdev to escalate these things to as well.


Project Updates

  • Loop (Anthony)
  • Metrics / Dashboards (KaiRo)
    • Added ADI graph capability (ping me if you want access, it's intentionally not public how to get there) to the pages made for long-term crash graphs.
      • This shows significant bleeding of ADI on Nightly and Aurora/DevEd, will email release drivers on that as we'll need to look into that and find action to counter it.
        • Kairo -> release-drivers list about this

  • You Tube Testing Status Update

    • Thinking about having a test day when the feature gets to beta
    • Bug triage happening today as well as defining what is P1 criteria
    • Suggestions about how to involve community in testing - our initial call to help test did not yield many bugs
      • Florin to help fit this into beta 3 testday
      • Right now all the work is still in nightly, so we may still have to wait until it gets into beta. That discussion will happen today

  • We made WebGL shader parsing stricter which causes some sites with buggy code to break, see bug 1113633 and bug 1113637 - this is going to ship
  • Overall crash rate for desktop seems to be similar to what we had at the end of the 34 cycle
  • On mobile, some fixes for the large crash bug 1078304, for bug 1072997 and bug 1090379 only landed for b10 so we'll need to see if those actually worked. If they do, crash rates look good.

  • Bug # 945192 - progress is being made using the SetDefaultDllDirectories function

    • Preparing for merge day on monday
    • Will finish the refactor of restart tests into single files this sprint - 3 left
