Firefox 4 Test Plan

Firefox 4 Beta 2 Testplan

Description of Release

This is the second beta version of Firefox 4. Some of the more notable changes include:

  • Tabs-on-top on Mac
  • App-tabs
  • Add-ons manager UI post-install confirmation/notification
  • CSS transitions
  • Retained Layers
  • l10n builds (a few)

Specific Plan Beta 2

We will run smoketests and BFTs using Mozmill, as well as manual smoketests. We'll also manually run areas of the BFT that focus on several areas listed in this page, while focusing on the changes for this release. We'll spot check a few of the locales.

Schedule

We will run through Litmus smoketests, BFTs, and updates checks. We'll focus on features landed for beta 2.

  • Code Freeze: July 20
  • Builds Start: June 20
  • QA: July 20-July 2?
    • Smoketests and BFTs using Mozmill: (1 person)
    • Manual smoketests, BFT areas, and Other OS Spot Checks: June 29-July 1 (3 people)
    • Testday: July 23 (3 people monitoring)
    • Accessibility: Before July 23 (1 person)
    • Top Sites Page Load Testing: Before July 23 (1 people)
    • Updates checks: July 21 (1 person)
      • Manual spot checks as necessary
