TB 2.0.0.14 / Fx 2.0.0.15 / TB 2.0.0.15

The Thunderbird respin plans for 2.0.0.15 have been put on hold. The normal schedule will suffice.

The current schedule for Firefox 2.0.0.15 is:

  • Code freeze: June 6
  • Builds start: June 9
  • QA starts: June 10
  • Release to beta channel: June 17
  • Final Release: June 24

This may shift out slightly if issues come up but this is the plan of record for now.

Thunderbird 2.0.0.15 will be released two to three weeks following this but the schedule has not been finalized yet.

  • Shipped RC1 !!! Testing is not finished as we released to get more testing from the community. The test results so far can be seen here.
  • Bug fix verifications [tomcat]
  • RC1 smoke tests, focused feature testing, BFTs, L10n testing, and update testing along with some FFTs nd top site testing. Found a number of bugs; none are showstoppers.
  • Places bug cleanup, triage, and investigation [tracy]
  • Started the top site scans using Windows XP and Mac OS X [bc]
  • Completed a full test run of the combined Sisyphus/valgrind [bc]
  • Leak testing - found only 1 new leak this week!  ;) [tomcat]
  • Reviewing feedback from Hendrix [marcia]

Test Development

  • Captured some code coverage stats and reviewing the results [ctalbert]
  • Two tools for testing which updates are available are almost done. Both are discussed in bug 431226. [Mikeal]
  • Making great progress on Gristmill - for automating litmus test cases. It looks like a beta version might be ready in a couple months
  • Working on je-malloc tests [bc, ctalbert]

Community

  • There was a _very_ active test days on Fri and Saturday. Our Friday test day involved 10 testers who ran almost 200 test cases. About 80 people were in the channel. There was a lot of great chatter on IRC about extensions, issues with places, and verifying a few financial sites. There was another one focused more on China and Firefox on OpenSolaris on Saturday/Sunday PDT. For this test day there were 30 active testers who ran almost 1700 test cases!
  • Continuing to plan the Test writing workshop. This is tentatively planned for September at Seneca College. [ctalbert]
  • Working on the next major community testers survey. This one will go into more details about they profiles so we can build sample profiles and use cases. [jay]

Evangelism

  • Received hopefully final new MDC skin over the weekend; should be installed on our test server shortly. Then we'll do another round of performance testing before opening things up for people to thump on.
  • Working on gathering information for a few more last-minute updates to the Firefox 3 developer docs.
  • Working on getting the first Add-ons Newsletter out the door this week.

Mozilla Labs

  • New intern: Anant Narayanan will be joining Labs for this summer to work on Weave.

Webdev, Add-ons, AMO

  • Socorro
    • fixes for infinite loops, failure tracking and other processor issues staged, updates to be pushed this week (lars and aravind back on Wed.)(see bugs)
    • still reviewing Socorro aggregate table patch; will be staged this week (bugs bug 426386, bug 426389, bug 426410)

  • SUMO queries reduced to 19 for non-logged in users, team made great progress for SUMO perf last week (see also bug 395271)

Foundation Updates

  • Legal issues
    • We got final legal signoff for the proposed new Mozilla committer's agreement; Gerv is now working to get an official copy of this agreement and related information posted to www.mozilla.org.

    • Frank found someone to help clear the backlog of CA requests; more on this later.
  • Public communication
    • David continued work on the www.mozilla.org site.
