Recruits lots
Past Items February was a very busy month, in fact, I haven't ever been that busy. School was the primary factor why I did not always have spare time for Mozilla, yet I think I managed to accomplish a few things.

FOSDEM 2012

As I promised in my previous report, I was present at this year's FOSDEM in Brussels (Belgium) and it was awesome! I did not know there were going to be so many enthusiastic fellow Mozillians present at the 2 days during event! I met lots of contributors from all over the world and even some employees (by the way William: thank you for the starter packs you gave me!).

This year Benoit from the Mozilla Belgium community organized Mozilla's presence and he along with others from the local community are wicked cool, I joined there community and plan to work with them closely in the future. Beside fellows Mozillians, I also met some geeks that are involved in other project and I'd even think some of them turned to Firefox instead of GC - mission accomplished! Also, before I forget, the hotel was awesome - thanks again Benoit!

On the second day I got to talk to Rosana and Kadir (Topal), both of them are on the SUMO team and I had a very, very interesting conversation with them regarding to livechat and the @FirefoxHelp coTweet account. As it turns out, Rosana is now leading the ReMo SIG SIG project, we talked about it and I think I managed to give her some input from a rep who has always tried to be active in SUMO. So yeah that was cool, we'll be working together a lot in future too.

Conclusion: MUST.REPEAT.NEXT.YEAR

CoTweet and @FirefoxHelp

So in my previous report I told that I'd be more active on the @FirefoxHelp account, right? Unfortunately that is no longer possible as coTweet has a Pay2Use license now and the SUMO team agrees that it's not worth the money. I'm sad, but I've got to agree with them, I mean, Twitter is not ideal as it has character limits and it wasn't that active so... And we have the army of awesome, rendering @FirefoxHelp useless less useful. One of my conversations with Kadir and Rosana at Fosdem was about this topic.

The SUMO SIG

As I mentioned in my FOSDEM report, Rosana is now leading the ReMo SUMO SIG project and we're working together on it (she definitely does all the work though). We had a meeting on Skype Thursday and it was cool to share some input from me and friends I collected with her.

We also tried to bring it up on this month's SUMO IRC meeting which was also kept last Thursday but for some reason we totally skipped it, so Rosana will be making a post about it on the contributor forum. So keep an eye out for the SIG, it's coming soon!

My blog

Regarding to my blog: to be honest - I hate blogs. Or at least, I hate blogs I have to setup. Sites/forums aren't that hard, but blogs are a pain for me! I decided to give Drupal a try after a friend recommended it to me over Wordpress, and it hates me. I should read the manual, but yeah... :(

Brief summary of everything

Yeah, so I didn't exactly post a brief description about everything I've done, so here it is summed up:

  • Attended FOSDEM
    • Met lots of Mozillians and cool geeks
    • Joined the Mozilla Belgium community
    • Showed some geeks the enlighted path: Firefox
  • Ceased my activities on coTweet (@FirefoxHelp)
  • Worked on the ReMo SUMO SIG with Rosana
    • Work In Progress (WIP)
    • Planned some Skype meetings
    • Wanted to discuss it in the SUMO IRC meeting --> forum post instead
  • I will try to set-up a blog
Next Items My agenda for March:
  • So I'll man up and try to set up a blog for my Mozilla related activities.
  • I will attend to CeBIT in Germany, Mozilla will unfortunately not be present this year (it's more like a commercial oriented fair) but there is a chance Rosana will be there (as she lives in Berlin).
  • I will also attend to an event the MozBE community will be present on: Dipro in Charleroi (Belgium). I have never heard of Dipro and I have no idea what to expect, but I feel like I should be there as a Rep.
  • The SUMO SIG which is currently in the make shall be continued and I'll actively contribute to that project since it's in my best interest!
"lots" is not a number.
